How much does it cost to join BNI?
There is a one time joining fee of £100 and an annual subscription of £400 with VAT on both of these amounts (need to check this is the current cost). There is also a weekly meeting fee of £8.00. This is less than the price of a display advert in the local paper and can bring far more benefit to the business.
Do I have to come along every week?
The chapter works on building relationships between members and if you are not present then you cannot do this to the level required to gain business. Therefore there is an attendance policy that states that you or a substitute must attend the meetings. We understand that the occasional absence is unavoidable and therefore accept 3 absences within each 6 month period. This policy has been proven to work and is easier to keep to in practice than in theory!
How do I learn more about BNI once I join?
There is a series of training sessions that are available to all members and new members must attend a workshop before they give the chapter their first 10 minute presentation. Training in presentation skills is given and each meeting contains an education slot where updates are given.
How do I learn about the members and what they do?
During the course of the meeting each member gives a 60 second presentation, updating the chapter on what they are doing and what business they are looking for. As well as this the members take turns in giving the chapter a 10 minute presentation on their business. Members are encouraged to have individual meetings outside of the main sessions in order to really understand each others' businesses and what they are looking for.
